Calculating Inrush Current Protection
Inrush current, the surge in current when a mains-powered device is turned ON, presents a problem in some electrical devices. Learn how to specify the inrush current protection needed for your device and run through the calculation of inrush protection for an example device. Inrush protection is deceptively simple yet it can save the device from false trip failures and premature decay of the mains circuit components. Read in full... |
What Can Be Measured with an LCR Meter
The LCR meter, also known as a digital bridge, performs impedance measurements for a varied number of applications. No longer used just for component testing (inductors, capacitors & resistors), the LCR meter is employed in the electrical characterization of gases, chemicals, powders and other dielectric materials. This application note breaks down the four sections of MIL-STD-202 and examines the Class 300 Electrical Tests. The apparatus required for Class 300 test methods is reviewed and compared to the specifications of the Horizon and Fusion Analyzers. Read in full... |
