| QuadTech and CableTest Systems
form Strategic Alliance |
 |
Due to customer demand in the U.S.
and Mexico,
QuadTech
and CableTest Systems Inc. have entered into a strategic alliance to offer
CableTest's Horizon units to those customers with multi-point requirements.
CableTest
has been redefining cable, backplane, connector and wire testing for more than
20 years. Their equipment is used worldwide in environments ranging from
simple, high-production continuity tests on computer data cables, to complex
analysis of complete wiring assemblies in nuclear submarines. |
| The Horizon 1500 Wiring Analyzer is
available in 3 models (HV,
LV
and
SCSI)
with numerous adapters available for application-specific cable testing. Need a
1000/1500V DC or 1067V AC Hipot Tester? How about 128-point testing with
modular expansion available to 1024 points? Test a single cable or a full
harness with the Horizon 1500 Series using a 2-wire or 4-wire resistance
measurement from 1mW to 50MW. Download the Horizon 1500 specs and learn more by

Cable
Testing - An Overview |
|
Robert
Maccarone, an Engineer at CableTest Systems, authored this 30-page reference
guide on cable testing. Complete with test descriptions, limits, guidelines,
wiring diagrams and more, this guide provides invaluable information for those
responsible for testing cables, wires and harnesses. Low voltage/low current,
low voltage/high current, insulation resistance and ground integrity test
methods are discussed as well as 2-terminal versus 4-terminal resistance
measurements. Hipot testing multi-conductor cables can be a nightmare devouring
precious test time on the production line. Discover how using the Mass HiPot
routine on a 16-conductor cable can reduce the total test time to 5 minutes.

2nd Article
Published in MDDI |
|
The 2nd article in
the IEC 60601-1 series co-authored by Leo Eisner of Eisner Safety Consultants,
Dan Modi of Alcon Research and Bob Brown of QuadTech was published in the
February 2004 issue of MDDI magazine.
"National
Deviations to IEC 60601-1" details the national requirements from the U.S.,
E.U, Canada, Japan and Australia that differ from the international standard,
IEC 60601-1. Flammability, conductive coatings, components, protective
earthing, and power supply cords are just a few of the parameters discussed
that affect manufacturer's safety testing of electro-medical devices.
