Reading for Technophiles |
| If catching up
on your summer reading includes research on cable correction, calibration
equipment, or an integrated test system, check out

Automated
Quality Testing of Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) |
A CRT
manufacturer's Quality Engineers were using a 1900 Inductance Analyzer when the
Production Line encountered lot problems and could not provide any test data.
Advanced Automation Associates (A3), a QuadTech systems integrator partner,
created a custom Visual Basic application, incorporated it into a SCADA system
and added data logging to an ORACLE database. [Full Text:

Open and
Short Correction |
Why do we have to
do an open and short correction before we make an impedance measurement? It
just takes up time in production testing, right? Better to zero the test leads
than add to the DUT's measured value. Find out where series capacitance and
shunt resistance add to cable error. Go through a specific example using the
1689M Digibridge, 1409 Capacitance Standard, BNC and 874 connectors. [Full

Application
for Precision Impedance Meters in a Standards Laboratory |
What measuring
instrument do Calibration and Standards Laboratories use? The highest accuracy
of the measurement is the goal since calibration labs certify manufacturers
test equipment. Read how the 1689 Precision RLC Digibridge is ideally suited
for use in calibration laboratories. [Full Text:

NEW UL Seminar for Medical Manufacturers |
Electromagnetic interference is everyhwere and electronic
medical devices are no exception. Attention must be paid to EMI shielding of
medical devices to protect susceptible patients. To this extent, IEC 60601-1
has a collateral standard that solely addresses the requirements of EMI: IEC
60601-1-2, "Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements and Tests".
QuadTech and UL are pleased to add to its
schedule
of events a NEW seminar:
Practical EMC Design for Medical Devices under IEC
60601-1-2 which details the 2001 revision. Design Engineers, PCB
Designers and Compliance Engineers will learn a set of EMC Design Rules
encompassing assumptions, architecture, grounding, chassis, cables, components,
PCB, stack-up, power, decoupling segments and more. Review the basics of
impedance, circuits and electromagnetic energy then delve into the practical
application of these EMC Design Rules.
Follow this link for dates, locations and seminar
details. |

Procix Partners With QuadTech |
Procix provides complete testing and process
solutions for the appliance industry. They integrate industrial I/O with PC's
or PLC's to give each customer a "bullet-proof" method for demanding 100%
product functionality and customer quality. Offering a customizable suite of
software applications, the Quality Process Management System (QPMS) is tailored
to each customer's needs and provides real-time feedback to management on
processes throughout your facility.
Whether you prefer a totally automated, "recipe-based"
solution, or a less automated system, Procix engineers will be able to custom
design a solution for you. They are the single solution for turnkey projects or
contract engineering services to manufacturing facilities.
Procix philosophy is simple. Design and implement
tools that allow the operator on the assembly line to focus on the primary task
- building the unit. Eliminate the ability for the operator to pass or fail a
unit on arbitrary terms. Use pre-defined recipes to determine whether a unit
passes or fails a particular process and give the operator on the assembly line
the tools needed to make informed decisions on quality.
Contact Procix today at (901) 507-3225 or visit their
website at
http://www.procix.com.
When a single QuadTech instrument isn't enough to
completely test your device, check out our
