PRODUCT REVIEW:
Alex Mendelsohn, Senior Technical Editor Test and Measurement, at ChipCenter.com reviewed the NEW 1930
Capacitance Meter. Alex Mendelshohn says..."Once again, QuadTech comes up with an eminently practical piece of benchtop or rack-mounted test gear. With its five-digit resolution (to 1 Hz for frequency), autoranging, selectable source-impedance, and the ability to measure dc resistance, or display the current through, or the voltage across, a device under test, this box gives you assurance that the test you're running approximates real world test conditions. LATEST NEWS:
QuadTech Expands into Mexico with the addition of a new Sales Consultant.
QuadTech, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Rodolfo Tapia as a Sales Consultant for Mexico. Rodolfo graduated from the Instituto Technologico de Tijuana with a degree in Electromechanical Engineering. Rodolfo's primary areas of focus are Baja, California and Sonora Mexico, but will also handle requests from other parts of Mexico as well. He can be reached by calling (6) 625-1209 in Mexico, (800) 253-1230 or email rtapia@quadtech.com.
SNEAK PREVIEW:
QuadTech is working hard to bring many new products into our current mix. You can expect to see very
attractive products between now and September. Keep an eye out for the coming announcements!
PAPER PRESENTED AT CARTS 2001:
"The Trend Towards Lower ESR In Capacitors" by Ronald Roetzer, was presented at the Capacitor And Resistor Technology Symposium (CARTS) in March 2001. This paper outlines the technology drivers and trends
associated with the development of low equivalent series resistance (ESR) capacitors. The paper also describes what
ESR is and how to perform accurate low ESR measurements. Full Text: http://www.quadtech.com/newsletter/esr.pdf
THE REFERENCE DESK - APPLICATION NOTES:
Why Perform Electrical Safety Testing?
Ever confused as to why all this product testing is
necessary? Check out this app note for some answers to
commonly asked questions. In addition to consumer product
safety, manufacturers also need to be concerned with
operator safety on the production line. Electrical safety
tests can also determine a products breakdown before it ever
gets to production and costs the manufacturer a great deal
of money.

Monitoring the Production Process of Tantalum Powder
See how one QuadTech customer uses a 7400 Precision LCR
Meter to monitor its tantalum powder production. Tantalum
powder is used in the manufacture of capacitors that are
used in very specific frequency applications. It is
necessary to perform a detailed characteristic of the
powder to ensure its consistency for the stability needed
at frequencies approaching 10kHz.

Transducers in Nuclear Waste Tanks Here is an interesting short story of how one QuadTech
customer uses a 7400 Precision LCR Meter to test trans-
ducers before they are inserted in the wall of a nuclear
waste tank. These transducers emit sound waves at specific
frequencies and the data is then used to monitor the sludge
levels inside the tank. The 7400 instrument's precise fre-
quency tuning and sweep capabilities provided this customer
with the ability to check transducer impedance over its
critical frequency range. [Full Text:

Appliance Testing with the Guardian 6200 Production
Safety Analyzer All appliance manufacturers must test their products to
national and/or international electrical safety standards.
Consumer product safety is a major concern in verifying the
product's ground connection. Discover why the Guardian 6200
Production Safety Analyzer is truly well suited for appliance
testing.
