Classification per IEC60601-1

Once the decision (or requirement) to test to IEC60601-1 has been rendered, it is necessary to classify your electrical medical product. This categorization process helps determine the specific tests necessary for compliance to IEC60601-1 based standards. Combine a gap analysis or construction review with classification and construct a complete test program for the electro-medical device under test. Author Leo Eisner of Eisner Safety Consultants discusses seven classification categories in this 4th installment on testing to IEC60601-1.
